Redbox Renews Agreement with Universal, Keeps Blu-rays and DVDs on 28-Day Delay

Redbox did something with Universal that it wasn't able to do with Warner Bros., and that's hammer out a multi-year agreement that will continue to make Universal DVDs and Blu-ray discs available for rental nationwide 28 days following their home release. The 28-day window has become somewhat of a standard between movie studios and new age...

This is smart of Universal because I know that I don’t buy a DVD unless I’ve already watched the film. Since going to the movie theater every time I want to check out a new film can get way too expensive I rent instead. I don’t have time to stop at a Redbox and sometimes they actually have lines of people waiting to pick a disc! Ever since my employer, DISH, started Blockbuster @Home, my life has been a lot easier. I can stream thousands of titles and they just expanded the number of family films that they offer. I also rent DVDs, Blu-rays and video games from them by mail so I never have to go out of my way to stop at a Redbox. The service costs me $10 a month and I keep the disc as long as I want without worries of additional fees for additional days. I learned my lesson when I rented movies from the library; those late fees really added up!
